A series of watermain projects will be undertaken this year as part of the City of Delta’s 2025 Financial Plan.
Among the projects will be a 53rd Street watermain upgrade, which will include the replacement of approximately 525 meters of existing asbestos cement pipe with a larger PVC watermain along 53rd Street from Ladner Trunk Road to Linden Drive, as well as the replacement of approximately 45 meters of existing PVC watermain with a larger diameter PVC watermain along 48A Avenue from 53rd Street to the first hydrant.
As part of the residential service replacements, meter chambers, complete with meter setters, will be installed at the property line for single-family properties, allowing the city to respond quickly to voluntary water meter installations and assist with secondary suite water meter installations.
Total project cost is set at $900,000.
Another project is a Trenant Lane watermain relocation, a $150,000 project involving the relocation of approximately 45 meters of existing watermain located on a Delta-owned lot at 4926 Delta St. to the laneway connection on Trenant Lane with Elliott Street.
A bigger project, costing $1.25 million, will be the 80A Avenue and 111B Street neighbourhood watermain upgrade. That project involves the replacement of approximately 680 meters of existing cast iron watermain with a larger PVC watermain along 110th Street from 80th Avenue to 81A Avenue, 80A Avenue from 110th Street to 111B Street, 111B Street from 80A Avenue to Pitman Place.
There will also be a replacement of approximately 90 meters of existing ductile iron watermain with a PVC watermain along Pitman Place, and replacement of approximately 80 meters of existing cast iron watermain with a larger diameter PVC watermain along Coulter Place.
Costing $1.2 million, the Brandy Drive neighbourhood watermain upgrade involves the replacement of approximately 820 meters watermain along Brandy Drive from 110th Street to 109B Street and 83rd Avenue from Brandy Drive to 109B Street.
Costing $1.3 million, the 57th Street watermain upgrade will involve the replacement of approximately 810 meters of existing pipe along 57th Street from Ladner Trunk Road to Crescent Drive.
Costing $1.66 million, a 4A Avenue replacement will see approximately 760 meters of watermain sections replaced along 4A Avenue from Kilkenny Drive to 55A Street.
A Tamboline Road project at Westham Island will see the $650,000 replacement of approximately 650 meters of watermain along Tamboline Road and Frew Road.
