The 18-hole Michaelbrook Golf Club in Kelowna’s Lower Mission area has sold for $6,050,000 in a transaction brokered by Jeff Hudson and Marshall McAnerney of HM Commercial Group, Kelowna.
The 53-acre course, which is in the Agricultural Land Reserve, was originally developed as a turf farm in the 1970’s by the Dumaresq family, of which several members still live in Kelowna. The course itself is 3,721 yards with a clubhouse, restaurant and a four-bedroom house.
The owners of Michaelbrook, Tom and Betty Stanbrook, state: “It has been a great ride and a privilege to run this golf course for the past eight years. We are staying in the Okanagan but it’s time to pass the torch to a new group who can inject the energy and capital to take it to the next level.”
The new owners are also local, with extensive business experience in the Okanagan. They confirmed the property will remain as a golf course.
“Our family has frequented Michaelbrook for over 20 years so the opportunity to own this property is a bit of a dream come true,” said Nadean Ostrom, a managing partner with the buyers. “We will not be making major changes and will continue to keep this hidden gem a place all ages will enjoy as their recreational outlet. The current staff will remain in place and we look forward to their input and experience in making improvements going forward.”
HM Commercial Group is licensed with Macdonald Realty Kelowna.
