On Sept. 12, a new transportation option will be available to people in East Vancouver.
Shared e-scooters will officially launch that day for the first area covered under the new program.
A map from Lime, the company running the e-scooter system, shows Commercial Drive, Hastings-Sunrise and neighbouring areas to be the first parts of Vancouver covered, including the PNE grounds, New Brighton Park, and Commercial-Broadway Station (see slide 2).
Over the next year, the system will grow to cover more of Vancouver.
Lime is in the process of installing parking stations currently, according to a press release. The first was erected at the corner of North Garden Drive and Eton Street near McGill Park.
Lime also says Vancouver is the first city in the world to get Lime's new "stationary parking station based service," which is similar to the Mobi bike share system already in use in Vancouver.
"The e-scooters will be easily accessible at designated stations strategically located across the city, ensuring seamless connectivity and accessibility for all users," states the company in a press release.
According to the Lime site, Vancouver will get Gen 4.1 scooters.
